Meet the Team

Dr. Mark Carter DVM

Dr. Mark Carter DVM

Medical Director / Veterinarian

Dr. Mark Carter is an Arizona native growing up in the Mesa area, and currently enjoys living in San Tan Valley with his wife (Tori) and daughters (Kansas and Addi).  He has been an animal lover his entire life, with an interest in animals large and small.  In addition to sharing his home with his family, he appreciates having several horses and frenchies around too!  In Dr. Carter’s spare time, you will find him spending time with his family and trying to get outdoors as often as possible.  He also enjoys spending time on a family friends’ ranch to lend a helping hand, where he has been able to spend many hours horseback working with his girls.

Dr. Carter attended Farrier School in 1999 and graduated from ASU with a Bachelor’s in Agricultural Business.  After this accomplishment, Dr. Carter enjoyed a career in ranching, where he had the opportunity of working on the largest cow-calf operation in the US.   While in Florida, he decided to further his education to obtain a degree in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Carter later graduated from Washington State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and he is rewarded by giving his clients and their fur-babies the best possible care. He treats all his patients as if they are his own, only recommending what he feels is necessary for the pet’s well-being.  Many clients refer to him as the “good doctor that wears the boots.”

Over the last few years Dr. Carter has realized the need for an UrgentVet Care Center to allow pet owners the opportunity to get care and treatment sooner rather than later.  Being an advocate for animals, he doesn’t want owners to face limited options with appointments being offered weeks out.  He enjoys all sides of veterinary medicine, but his focused areas of interest include preventative care, internal medicine, dermatology, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and a subset of orthopedic surgery.

Miranda

Miranda

Veterinary Technician

Miranda has been rocking the veterinary world for 13 whopping years and counting! As our go-to inventory expert, she keeps our clinic running smoothly behind the scenes—making sure we’re always stocked and ready to care for your pets. She has a passion for learning new things and takes pride in building genuine connections with clients and their furry family members.

Known for her sharp wit and window-side people-watching commentary, Miranda keeps us all laughing. At home, she wrangles a couple of dogs, a tortoise named Lunchbox, and two adventurous human kids. When she’s off the clock, you’ll likely find her out at the dunes riding her side-by-side, camping, hiking, or fishing with her family.

Miranda brings a perfect mix of experience, humor, and heart to our team—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Marla

Marla

Veterinary Technician

Marla has been working in the veterinary field for over 7 years and brings a calm, confident presence to every part of the clinic—especially the surgery room, where she thrives assisting with procedures and making sure every pet is cared for with skill and compassion.

Outside of work, Marla keeps busy with her lively household, which includes two young sons, a pack of friendly dogs, and a variety of farm animals she lovingly tends to. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and loves a good game of Toka to unwind. Her passion for animals and dedication to their well-being make her a valued part of our team.

Danya

Danya

Veterinary Technician

Danya has been working in the veterinary field since 2002, following in her mother’s footsteps—and the trail of fur they both leave behind. A lifelong animal lover, she’s made it her mission to provide top-notch care to pets while also being a steady support for their (occasionally anxious) humans.

At home, Danya’s life is a delightful whirlwind of wagging tails and purring snuggles, thanks to her two exuberant Labradors, four very opinionated cats, and an aquarium full of fish with names like Sir Bubbles and Captain Fins. Her house is basically a pet sitcom in progress.

When she’s not wrangling animals or calming nervous pet parents, you’ll find Danya nose-deep in a good book, trying to conquer her growing to-be-read pile. She’s also got a green thumb and a soft spot for poolside lounging—bonus points if both can happen in the same afternoon.

Her dream escape? Maui—sun, sand, sea turtles, and hopefully, one day, a forever home with an ocean view. With her compassion, humor, and boundless energy, Danya is a beloved part of the team—and the kind of person animals would definitely swipe right on.

Ashlee

Ashlee

Veterinary Technician

Ashlee recently joined our team as a Veterinary Assistant and brings with her a deep passion for animal care that started at a young age. She is eager to expand her skills and pursue her goal of becoming a Veterinary Technician. Her favorite part of the job is helping animals feel comfortable and supporting their owners through every step of their pet’s care. Outside the clinic, she loves traveling, being outdoors, and enjoying quality time with her friends and family.

Heidi

Heidi

Client Service Representative

Originally from Southern Arizona, Heidi has always had a love for outdoor adventures. She enjoys spending her free time camping, fishing, and going on road trips with her husband and two sons. At home, she loves to unwind with a good book, crochet projects, and, of course, coffee. She’s also a proud cat owner to her black cat, Poe.

Helen

Helen

Client Service Representative

Helen has been a valued part of the veterinary field for quite some time (but we’ll keep the exact number of years a secret!). She’s the warm, welcoming face you’ll see at the front desk, always ready to assist with a smile. At home, she shares her life with her dog, Dobby, and a household full of cats that keep things interesting.

When she’s not helping clients or caring for her own furry family, Helen enjoys spending time with her son, especially watching and playing pool together. And when the stars align, you might find Helen sneaking out a little early to catch an afternoon episode of Judge Judy—because who doesn’t love a good courtroom drama?

Helen’s easygoing nature, love for animals, and great sense of humor make her a key part of our team.
