Dr. Mark Carter is an Arizona native growing up in the Mesa area, and currently enjoys living in San Tan Valley with his wife (Tori) and daughters (Kansas and Addi). He has been an animal lover his entire life, with an interest in animals large and small. In addition to sharing his home with his family, he appreciates having several horses and frenchies around too! In Dr. Carter’s spare time, you will find him spending time with his family and trying to get outdoors as often as possible. He also enjoys spending time on a family friends’ ranch to lend a helping hand, where he has been able to spend many hours horseback working with his girls.
Dr. Carter attended Farrier School in 1999 and graduated from ASU with a Bachelor’s in Agricultural Business. After this accomplishment, Dr. Carter enjoyed a career in ranching, where he had the opportunity of working on the largest cow-calf operation in the US. While in Florida, he decided to further his education to obtain a degree in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Carter later graduated from Washington State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and he is rewarded by giving his clients and their fur-babies the best possible care. He treats all his patients as if they are his own, only recommending what he feels is necessary for the pet’s well-being. Many clients refer to him as the “good doctor that wears the boots.”
Over the last few years Dr. Carter has realized the need for an UrgentVet Care Center to allow pet owners the opportunity to get care and treatment sooner rather than later. Being an advocate for animals, he doesn’t want owners to face limited options with appointments being offered weeks out. He enjoys all sides of veterinary medicine, but his focused areas of interest include preventative care, internal medicine, dermatology, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and a subset of orthopedic surgery.
